Les Chèvres Joyeuses, or, Because Goats Can’t Sweat

Goats can’t sweat, and super hot weather makes them cranky and miserable. And because they also hate getting wet, there’s not much you can do except hose down the ground around them to get some evaporative cooling going. After a stretch of days in the upper 90s, the cloudy, cool weather this morning gave everyone a spring in their step. And there’s nothing springier than a little goat! When I let them out for the day, I was treated to a celebration like I’ve never seen. Even Queen Peaches was romping and leaping with joy! Of course when I got the video, only Diego was obliging, but trust me, the three of them were tearing about the place with abandon for a good 10 minutes. Happy goats. Nothing better.

    • Yes, gosh! I’ve been eagerly awaiting their arrival myself (looking forward to pics)! Nothing cuter than a baby goat. Although, I wish I got some video of the show Peaches put on. She’s not even a baby, but she was being equally silly.
